Raise The Village? Huh?



It works like this. After a super swift registration…

…you’re into building a virtual village in a virtual Africa…
…and simultaneously helping to fund the development of a real village in Uganda.
First, let’s deal with the virtual side of things.



Your mission in Raise The Village…to build the mind, health and spirit of the place by erecting housing, planting crops, and doing a raft of other satisfying Sim City kind of stuff.


So far so Good…yes, with a capital G.



But how, you ask, is your free app download actually helping anyone? Like this.



Raise The Village uses Florins as its in game currency. You start out with a few shinies in your bank, but once you’ve bought a crop farm and a house, or two, your Florins get pretty depleted.



There are two ways to get more Florins.



Method One…buy them with real cash which Biko can use to source goods from around Uganda, goods that Raise The Village’s real target village desperately needs.

Method Two…play more games.
I’m assuming those developers (or their sponsors) then provide money for the cause depending on how much exposure they get for their games.



Play to give…I like it.

And what I’m particularly loving about Raise The Village is the virtual/factual connection. It’s strong.

You get to see, via video updates to your iPhone, when the supplies that you have helped buy roll into town.
Playing iPhone games can change the world.
