blind camera concept

Here is one interesting camera you won’t find on sale. Called Buttons, this camera is unlike any other camera you’ve seen before. Featuring no optical components at all, it is essentially a blind camera that relies on other people to take photographs for you. The brainchild of Sascha Pohflepp, Buttons is a camera that doesn’t capture photographs in the traditional way. In fact it doesn’t even “capture” photographs.

When you hit the shutter button, that exact time you pressed the button is stored on the camera (which actually features a Sony Ericsson phone that’s running a modified operating system). With the time of the shutter pressed in mind, the camera than trawls through Flickr and searches for a photograph that was taken at that exact same moment in time, but by someone else.

This search could take up to minutes or hours depending on how fast it stumbles upon a photograph with the same timestamp as the moment you “snapped” a picture on the blind camera. Definitely one of the more creative ways you can use to capture the moment. You’ll have no idea what’s going to turn up on the screen of your camera whenever you hit the shutter button. Watch a demonstration video or find out more about this concept design.

Which model do you like better? Ape or Smart?

iPhone Fun Lockscreen Concept

The original designer Mac Funamizu had an interesting idea of a lockscreen, inspired by the one on the MIUI software. He thought that the iPhone user should also do something fun when unlocking the screen, stuff like shooting a billiards ball or a bowling ball towards some upper screen area targets.

iPhone 5 Concept

The guys at iSpazio has published some really nice concept pictures of the iPhone 5. Head over to the next page to view pics!

iPhone Nano

iPhone Nano
Have no idea what are the specs behind the iPhone nano mockup created by Nicholas, one of the commenters on the original 9to5mac.com article talking about such concepts. However, we’re loving the purple theme and how slim the device manages to be. It appears it was designed months ago, before the iPhone nano was even a dream

This handset is slim enough to look fragile and its screen is once again edge to edge, like the one of the previous concept… Is this edge to edge thing ever going to be implemented?

Sony Ericsson P1 Makes Another Return as the Xperia Text

Sony Ericsson P1 must have been a very loved phone, since we’ve seen a couple of Sony Ericsson concepts that are meant to be its successors. Joining the list is the Xperia Text shown below, the creation of Esato board user pavlov’s dog.

The Xperia concept is a mere 8mm thin, even thinner than the Xperia Arc and we learn that the Xperia Text comes with a 3.7 inch 720 960 pixel IPS display and a dual core processor. Rocker keys are also on board and the handset sports a pretty business/enterprise look.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Business & a Message of Hope for Japan

The Xperia Business comes with a 1GHz processor, a 3 inch touchscreen and it runs Android 2.4 with a customized Sony Ericsson interface. In this time of uncertainty, one can only hope that the launch of the Xperia Play, Neo and Pro models (the latest) will go flawlessly and maybe some new devices, as well…

HTC Gamer, a Serious 7 Inch Rival to All Portable Consoles

HTC Gamer, a Serious 7 Inch Rival to All Portable Consoles
As one of our most prolific designers, Long-Nong Huang is back with the HTC Gamer, a very interesting portable device, that sports a 7 inch display. The gizmo uses a single core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU at 1,4GHz and a 2 megapixel front camera. At the back you’ll find a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash.
HTC Gamer runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb, supports HSPA+ connectivity and has a 6000mAh battery, providing 12 hours of 3D gaming. The specs list of the 7 inch device is completed by 1GB RAM, HDMI, a special charging port and microUSB. Would you buy this instead of a PSP or Nintendo DS?

PS Square, the Smart Mobile Device Ideal for Teens

PS Square, the Smart Mobile Device Ideal for Teens
At first glance this seems like a future Sony PlayStation console, an alternative to the Sony NGP. Created by Hirotaka Matsui, the PS Square is a conceptual smart mobile device that’s oriented towards members of the public who are 12 to 14 years old.
PS Square supports induction charging, Bluetooth, possibly 3G and it embeds a microSD card slot. A QWERTY keyboard and a large (probably OLED) screen are incorporated and the device can connect to the PC and TV with ease, via wireless.

The same concept portable device supports social networking, gaming (as shown by the directional pad) and even school work, if you have time for that. Action keys are present as well and an eReader should be on board, too. It’s hard for me to see teenagers doing homework on this device, since I personally would be tempted to socialize and play games on it, but it’s an incredibly cool gadget, to be honest.

Sony Ericsson Xperia LED Android Phone

Sony Ericsson Xperia LED Android Phone

Unsatisfied with the current build quality of Android phones, designer Kieron-Scott decided to create the Sony Ericsson Xperia LED concept. This Android device comes with a unibody high polished black steel body and copper plated buttons with LED indicators.
In order to get evenly illuminated shots, the Xperia LED uses the ring flash technology and a nice touch is the illuminated Sony Ericsson at the back. This seems to be a design prototype, so it’s a work in progress, accepting input from you. There’s the comments section for that, if you have suggestions.

This handset certainly looks like Nexus material and Google would probably embrace it as its own. Notice the edge to edge screen present upfront, but I’m not so sure about that curved back. Perhaps make the curve smaller?

iPhone 5 Concept Resorts to Squeezing Instead of Home Button (Video)

We’ve hearing more and more often the theory concerning an iPhone 5 without a Home button. This time we’re given an alternative for this mechanism: a phone squeezing gesture that will take you back to the main menu. Max Rudberg is the man behind this idea, that you can see in the video below.
Another cool idea would be a touch area on the back of the next gen iPhone, like the one you have on the brand new PSP, Sony NGP. Also, one may wonder if squeezing the phone so hard won’t affect its signal… What do you say?

Concept Phone Nokia Kinetic rises during an incoming call

Mobile phones have long been transformed from utilitarian gadgets to loyal aides and even friends. The owners pride themselves on their cellphones and, if so, their unusual features. Designer Jeremy Innes-Hopkins, presented a concept phone called the Nokia Kinetic, which is a very unusual way to give the owner aware of an incoming call or message. This phone has a thickened rounded base, and during the call, he rises to a vertical position, thus attracting the attention of his owner, and along with all others.

Gravity Phone - HD concept mobile phone with support for HDMI

The concept of a mobile phone , presented at Yanko Design, is hardly a pocket gadget . Unless, of course, do not take into account the very large trousers with very large pockets that can accommodate a netbook. Gravity Phone shows us some of the features that might be osnashatsya next generation handsets. So, what we get, sacrificing compactness?

Concept Phone Nokia E-Cu has a heat generator and recharges the warmth of the human body
