Listening to Music with your friends isnt something that happens a lot nowadays. Mostly because the loudspeaker on your mobile device usually isnt loud enough for a social gathering like a picnic, or when you’re at the beach, or even an impromptu party. Moreover it can be hard to find a decent pair of external speakers, that are portable enough to carry around.
The Nokia MD-11 ‘mini-speaker‘ hopes to solve those troubles, with its very portable, cute little exterior, and a nice amplified speaker on the side, to play your music without needing a wall power outlet or large batteries.
We got a black MD-11 Unit to check out, but the mini speaker is also available in White, Blue and Red colors. It connects via a standard 3.5mm Audio Jack, but has a Nokia 2.5mm Pin adapter also, for older Nokia phones. The speaker is about the size of a tennis small, even smaller infact, and fits very easily in the palm of your hand.
It’s small enough to cram into a back pocket, but it’ll result in a bit of an embarrassing bulge. You could always throw it into your backpack or small bag though. There’s even a nice cable management system so that things dont get too messy, and the wires are always packed up and tidy
It’s small, lightweight and there’s also an additional 3.5mm audio port so that you can plug in another MD-1 for stereo audio. We’d imagine you’d have a pretty kickass audio experience with two of these, the one being great as it is.
On top, there’s large holes for the 40mm speaker driver, and a power toggle on the front, with an LED power indicator above it.
On the bottom, there’s a rubberized cover, with the aforementioned smart cable organizer which also doubles up as the ‘feet‘ of the unit.
