Samsung Seeks U.S. Apple iPhone Import Bans, Sues Apple Again

This doesn't seem to be a story that will end soon nor will it end happily. We're not going to recap all the phases but initially Apple sued Samsung for allegedly copying its iPhone design and using it on 25 smartphones. From there, all hell broke loose into a huge lawsuit with several subsequent filings from both parts.

According to Reuters, the latest developments are that Samsung sued Apple in Delaware -- after just recently Apple sued Sammy in Korea -- in what appears to be a brand new patent lawsuit. Even more, Samsung is asking the U.S. International Trade Commission to ban iPhone imports to the States (and iPad for that matter). Samsung claims these Apple products infringe on five of Samsung's patents involving telecommunications standards and user interface inventions.

While the filing and claims need to be analyzed, it will take a relatively long time until there will be a ruling (regardless if positive or negative) but the tension between the two companies seems to grow every day. Apple and Samsung went from strong partners (Apple was one of Samsung's largest customers for iPhone and iPad parts) to court enemies in a saga that not only affects the two giants but the whole tech world.
