Apple Claims A Total Of 25 Samsung Smartphones Copy the iPhone

Earlier this year Apple considered that Samsung is ripping it off by copying its iPhone design and applying it to a couple of its own smartphones. Cupertino claimed to take a look at Samsung's upcoming models and the Korean company instantly responded demanding the same, plus adding in a couple of patents to raise the stakes.

If the original complaint referred to designs of the Samsung Captivate, Continuum, Vibrant, Galaxy S 4G, Epic 4G, Indulge, Mesmerize, Showcase, Fascinate, Nexus S, Gem, Transform, Intercept, and Acclaim smartphones, Apple has amended it to add an additional eleven smartphones to the claim.

So, besides the above mentioned fourteen devices, Apple is now adding the Droid Charge, Exhibit 4G, Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Prevail, Galaxy S, Gravity, Infuse 4G, Nexus S 4G, Replenish, Sidekick, and Galaxy S II. That's a total of twenty-five smartphones Apple claims are copied from its iPhone design.

There are some strange smartphones listed there, like the Sidekick which hit the market in its first iteration in 2002, way before Apple was even considering a smartphone. Since the design hasn't changed much in the Sidekick 4G made by Samsung -- and with Apple having no slide-out QWERTY versions of the iPhone -- the story tends to lightly turn into Apple harassing its iPhone parts supplier and fierce smartphone competitor (even though Apple recently claimed in court that Samsung was harassing it).
